  18. SORRY for the double post.  I intended to post this just to LW, and  
  19. later realized I used the toaster address.  In my defense, I didn't  
  20. get any sleep last night.  Mea culpa.
  21.     I just finished putting together some page flipping  
  22. (similar to a not-too-distant thread, which definitely  
  23. helped--thanks) and got it looking pretty reasonable in wireframe.   
  24. My method uses about 4 different morph targets.  So, now all I do  
  25. is _just_ load the images and I'm cookin'--well, not quite.
  26.     To have images on either side of a leaf visible at the same  
  27. time (due to page curl), my leaf object consisted of two subdivided  
  28. rectangles with the same aspect ratio as my images.  At first, I  
  29. had the normals of the back side of the leaf pointing away from the  
  30. camera when saved in Modeler (+z), but this gave a left-right  
  31. reversal of the image.  Flipping the normals and going double sided  
  32. gives the same result.
  33.     Hey, no problem, go into TP & reverse the image (originally  
  34. saved as a brush).  Hmm.  Vertical reversal works, but horizontal  
  35. gives nothing but garbage.  I'm using a Toaster 4000 on an A2500,  
  36. running LW 4.07.  TP has been nothing but trouble for an A2000 for  
  37. some time, but I was hoping they would have such a basic effect  
  38. ironed out by now.  Are others still experiencing a lot of no-go's  
  39. with TP2000?  I never tried TP2000 on version 4.06.  Maybe it  
  40. works.  Yeah, maybe.
  41.     Of course, I might be missing a really easy solution in  
  42. terms of object orientation.  I tried loading the front & back  
  43. sides as separate objects, with the back side having front-facing  
  44. polys.  Now rotate the back side by 180 and get some really weird  
  45. page turning.
  46.     The only immediate solution was to rotate my original image  
  47. by -90, then flip vertically, followed by +90 rotation.  This  
  48. resulted in garbage + the image I needed, now reduced in size to  
  49. postage stamp proportions.  Cut out the postage stamp and off to  
  50. the Raptor!!--well, not quite.
  51.     In LW 3.5, ScreamerNet worked (kind of).  Whenever I got  
  52. over 50k polys, it would arbitrarily omit certain objects from  
  53. rendering, but I could get around that.  When I now hit the "Send  
  54. All Files", an inevitable hang occurs.  (I'm using the original  
  55. Raptor)  When I try doing things individually, by sending the scene  
  56. file first, it at least sends me a message that something wasn't  
  57. copied correctly before hanging.
  58.     Is anyone else using ScreamerNet on the original Raptor?   
  59. Is there any version besides 3.5 that is at all functional?  I'll  
  60. be asking these questions directly of Deskstation, but experience  
  61. tells me not to hold my breath for a useful answer.  All my past  
  62. complaints regarding such irritants have been answered by:
  63.     The Dealer:  "Gee, that's weird!"
  64.     NewTek Tech Support:  "Duh"
  65.     Deskstation:  "Screamernet really sucks."
  66.     (Disclaimer--Not exact quotes, but darn close.)
  67.       I have been attempting to put a head on the Raptor, and I  
  68. already have the stand-alone version of LW for MIPS, but neither my  
  69. dealer or I have been able to get _any_ details from Deskstation  
  70. about doing so, although I have been assured they would have  
  71. already been faxed to me.
